Our new editorial
policy
Since January 1, 2010, we
have taken a shift in our editorial stance, to now include covering
all activities of the International Organizations in Geneva
(including NGO's).
The main objective for our
new direction is to contribute to International Geneva (Geneva or
multilateral), as one could also define as the most multicultural
city in Switzerland.
Our work seeks to enhance
the information for all the international functions of Geneva and
the main components of its identity: diplomacy, cooperation and
multilateral conferences, trade, finance and global arbitration; the
free flow of ideas and knowledge; cosmopolitan, multicultural, and
cross-border solidarity.
The actors in
International Geneva
International actors of
"Geneva International" form a composite world, fragmented and
abundant, consisting of several groups:
States and their
representatives, numbering 160.
International
organizations (IO's), 50 represented in Geneva.
Nongovernmental
organizations (NGOs) 1,200 (250 recognized by the Swiss Mission to
the UN).
Approximately 40,000
people make up "international community" (diplomatic, international
civil servants employed in foreign missions, scientists at CERN,
family members and domestic private persons.
Some
170,000 participants at international meetings and dozens of heads
of state and high level dignitaries attend Geneva every year. Geneva
is the first centre for meetings and conferences in the world.
Our goal
Swisslatin covers various
areas of intervention of the International Organizations: peace and
security, personal protection, health, environment and quality of
life, economy, labour and technology, education and culture,
spirituality and religions.
Our goal is to bring the
message of the International Geneva hearings to the local Hispanic
and English-speaking world, in simple, straightforward language.
We are helping to
strengthen the position of Geneva internationally, and we promote
dialogue, cooperation and synergies with international
organizations.
Our commitment is to
maintain regular interaction with international actors, and educate
our readers to the issues and challenges of NGOs and the
international organizations.
On the other hand, we
contribute to the strengthening of one of the major international
policies for Switzerland.
Finally, we provide our readers with sometimes technical
information, written in an accessible language, covering a wide
variety of topics not only for the IO’s and NGO's based in Geneva,
but also of sports institutions such as FIFA in Zurich, The Olympic
Committee in Lausanne, and the Universal Postal Union in Bern.
